DISCOVER SCUBA DIVING

  • Minimum age for Discover Scuba Diving is 10 years old.
  • The DSD experience consists of 2 Open Water Dives under the supervision of one of our excellent Instructors to a maximum depth of 12m.
  • Adults and children can take the Discover Scuba Diving experience together, so it is fun for all the family.

Begining in the swimming pool a day ot two before going to the Open Water, you will learn basic safety concepts and try out the equipment used for scuba diving. You will then be ready to take a trip to one of the fantastic dive destinations around Koh Samui, where you will make your first dives to a maximum depth of 12m, and discover the fantastic Underwater World.

The day begins around 7 - 7.30am when we pick you up from your resort and take you to meet up with your Instructor. We then take you by speedboat to the beautiful island of Koh Tao, which is about 1 1/4 hours away. In Koh Tao there are some fantastic bays which are ideal for beginners to experience diving for the first time, with clear blue water and lots of marine life for you to see. For your first dive, we usually go to a bay which allows you to walk into the sea from the beach, helping you to slowly build up your confidence.

After you have completed the first dive we take a break for an hour or so when we serve lunch, which you can eat on the boat or on the beach. After lunch we move the boat to another fantastic dive site to make your second dive.

We arrive back to Koh Samui around 3.30pm.

After completing Discover Scuba Diving, many divers decide to repeat the experience either immediately, or on other occasions in different areas. Others decide they enjoyed the experience so much they choose to become certified divers by enrolling in the 2 day PADI Scuba Diver Course or Open Water Diver course. One Discover Scuba dive can be credited towards the PADI Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver Certification if you take the course within 12 months. It is an ideal way to find out if you like diving enough before taking the next step of the adventure with the PADI Scuba Diver or Open Water Course.

With your Instructor you will use the PADI Manual, which is yours to keep after the course. To assist your learning you will also watch the first three modules of the PADI Open Water DVD. This gives you a better understanding when you dive of what is happening and why! We normally break for lunch around 1pm returning about an hour later to show you how to set up your equipment.

And now the fun begins. We go to the swimming pool where you will put into practice the things you learnt in theory during the 3 confined water dives. The day usually finishes around 4.30-5pm.

The following day we will pick you up around 7- 7.30am for your first diving adventure. Your Instructor will go through the equipment assembly with you before we then take you by speedboat to the beautiful island of Koh Tao, which is about 1 1/4 hours away.
In Koh Tao there are some fantastic bays which are ideal for beginners to experience diving for the first time, with clear blue water and lots of marine life for you to see.

For your first dive, we usually go to a bay which allows you to walk into the sea from the beach, helping you to slowly build up your confidence.
